Clear Energy Facts is a consumer-focused platform that helps Texans compare electricity plans with full transparency. The deregulated Texas electricity market is confusing, and many comparison sites promote sponsored plans that aren’t actually the cheapest. Our app takes a data-first approach: we analyze thousands of plan PDFs, TDU charges, hidden fees, and bill-credit structures to calculate real monthly bills at 500, 1000, and 2000 kWh.

The platform is built entirely with Ruby on Rails, supported by Turbo, Stimulus, and a Python microservice pipeline for scraping and validating plan data. Every plan is processed through a simulation engine that estimates real-world monthly charges using smart-meter profiles. This allows us to highlight true fixed plans, flag misleading marketing, and generate CEF Scores measuring transparency, customer service sentiment, cancellation fees, and pricing fairness.

Our mission is simple: help Texans avoid overpaying for electricity by giving them honest, data-backed recommendations. Clear Energy Facts is growing quickly, adding localized Spanish content, personalized bill estimators, and company review summaries. It’s a modern Rails product built for real consumer impact, combining clean design, performance, and a strong data pipeline.
